In many areas of the manufacturing industry, manufacturing processes and control systems are determining factors for quality, competitiveness and cost efficiency. Accurate and meaningful simulations and reliable information on new production processes allow the best use of existing potential. Results of our work are, among others, a software library for the simulation of machining processes, as well as programming and simulation environments for computer-controlled machining tools.

In order to implement reliable and efficient integrated systems, it is often necessary to use specialized computational and analytical methods that we develop together with our partners from the engineering disciplines. Equally important are software technologies that make the best use of modern, parallel hardware architectures. We pursue this thematic priority in the work area of parallel and high-performance computing. An important success factor for our work is a close connection between the disciplines of Software Engineering and Mathematics.
