The Institute of Bioinformatics conducts internationally renowned research and offers a sound education in bioinformatics. His research focuses on the development and application of machine learning and statistical methods in biology and medicine

Fraunhofer Austria is a subcompany of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft – the leading organisation for applied sciences in Europe. They orient their applied research projects always to the needs of Austria’s industry and economy.
The institute for system engineering and automatisation is part of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. It focuses on the education in the areas software processes, requirements engineering, production lines and quality assurance..
Our activities and activities are:
- Research in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Accessibility / Disability and Assistive Technologies
- Teaching for students of computer science (Bachelor and Master) and elective subject teaching for all students of the JKU on the research areas
- Service & Support Center for students with disabilities and / or chronic illnesses in close cooperation with publishers, the Rectorate and the LVA leaders / institutes of the JKU
The Heuristic and Evolutionary Algorithms Laboratory strives to promote scientific research in the field of metaheuristics for solving business, engineering, and biomedical problems. We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, science and software development and wish to encourage close cooperation between industrialists and academics. We also develop and maintain HeuristicLab (dev.heuristiclab.com), an open source software framework for heuristic and evolutionary optimization, which we hope will attract new users and practitioners.
The first contact point for all questions concerning logistics and industrial networks. In cooperation with research facilities, the Logistikum contributes to topics such as environment, infrastructure, process management, etc.
The Software Competence Center Hagenberg GmbH (SCCH) is one of the biggest independent research centres in Austria. Since the SCCH was founded in 1999 it has focused on application-oriented research in the Softwarepark Hagenberg and is a prime example of an effective chain of innovation. The SCCH is a COMET-K1 competence centre. One of the SCCH‘s current main research topics is production research – Industry 4.0.
FAW is an institute of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, which primarly does basic research. The FAW GmbH offers product- and vendor-independent competences in the areas information management, software- und Web Engineering and database technologies.
